Greetings -
We said goodbye to Margo Cooper’s “Intimate Witness” show on April 5 and are now gearing up for the spring. This remarkable collection of photographs and the accompanying book, “Deep Inside The Blues,” wowed a steady stream of visitors throughout its run. Thanks to all the Blues players and aficionados who came out to view the show and swap stories!
For 6 years running we have been honored to serve on the jury for the Social Documentary Network’s annual ZEKE Award for documentary photography. We’ve been equally honored to mount a show at BRIDGE of the winners and selected entries. This year we’ll be showing the two winners with a nod to 6 Honorable Mentions.
The show is titled “ Reckonings “ and features the work of Jan Banning and Carlos Folgoso Sueiro.
Jan Banning is a Dutch photographer who has been making remarkable portraits of participants in the reconciliation program of post-genocide Rwanda. Pairing perpetrators with victims and recording their stories, Banning has created a stunning set of images and an unimaginable narrative.
Carlos Folgoso Sueiro is a Spanish photographer who’s work explores the effects of cultural and climate change on a previously dam-induced, flooded area of Galicia in Spain.
At this writing we have scheduled Jan Banning to speak at the gallery on June 4. More info on this gallery talk at a later date
This Show Opens May 10, 2025 and runs through June 7, 2025.
Opening reception is Saturday, May 10 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM
Hours for this show will be : Fridays 4:00 - 7:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 12:00 - 5:00 PM. Opening reception will be Saturday, May 10 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM.
Looking farther ahead we’re encouraging you to put July 18,19 and 20 on your calendars. As a sign that we’re attracting attention from outside the area, we’ve been invited to host May Pang’s ‘Lost Weekend’ show . In the early 1970’s, John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s relationship was in trouble, and with Yoko’s encouragement, John and May embarked on an 18 month affair that Lennon called ‘My Lost Weekend.’ It was a particularly fertile time of creativity for Lennon, and May Pang was documenting it all. She will be here at BRIDGE for three days signing photographs and telling tales. More details to come as we get closer to the date.
To quote Yogi Berra, “ The future ain’t what it used to be.” We’ll do our best to keep the future at the gallery interesting and innovative…
Thanks to everyone for your continuing support.
Best, Greig Cranna
